The running Man, not so great an ending

I finished the Running Man last week and i was not really satisfied. First off, to be honest i did not really understand the ending at all. It was vague and confusing and the over all way it was written in time intervals just threw me off when there was no time left. I don't nesicarily think this reading was too hard for me but I think it is more appropriate for someone who loves action and adventure and confusing plots with twists and turns which is simply not me. I also did not like at all the way the characters persona's changed throughout the book. When i first started reading i thought one way about Richard as this nice innocent father who just wants what is best for his daughter. Then later i thought he was some crazy attention seeker and by the end of the book he just seemed more like a James Bond want to be superhero. Because i could not get a grip on any of the characters true qualities, i could not relate to one thing about this book, so i found myself wondering why i was reading it. Possibly, its just not my kind of book but i am content that i tried a new type of genre. I am glad The Running Man is over and excited to start a new book.

The Running Man

The running man is not my favorite book that i have read so far. First off it is very confusing and to me the characters are not that well developed. The running man is really Richard, desperate for money to help his sick child. So what should he do, join a new game show where he has to run for his life to avoid everyone around him who wants to kill him. The problem i had was that the story was very choppy. It is told in minutes until the book ends which confused me greatly. Also, Richard's character does not really make sense to me. He was supposed to be this poor broke father who does not know what to do with his life, and then he becomes in a matter of days this brilliant and ruthless prey. I think the way his character developed was fake and unrealistic and it just made the whole plot seem really fake and unrealistic. I could not relate to the any of the characters at all and ultimately it was a disappointment. I would recommend it for an older audience and possibly when in a few years I will try it again and see if i understand it more.

The end of the secret life of Bees!!!

Wow. The Secret Life of Bee's is a great novel and just had an amazing ending. The whole novel in general is so heartwarming and the time setting reminds me much of To Kill A Mockingbird. It is one of those old time novels where family is important and in the end all one can rely on is their family, no matter what form that takes. Both novels also take place in the same setting around the same time in a southern town where traditions are far different than where we live today. Family ties are strong, and wounds run deep, grudges are held forever and rumors spread like wildfire.
One character interesting to expand on is T-ray, the father in the novel who is desperately trying to find his daughter, although his motives are not all the fair. He wants her back but not out of true love but because she helps him on his farm and is part of his traditional life. I assumed that he is one of those people who cannot handle change or disruption of what is normal and usual. He is also a very angry and abusive man, which is probably the reason his wife left him. When he does find his daughter he strikes her viciously and shows her no reason to come home. T-ray over all does not know how to be a parent and for that reason he lost his daughter.
